Ray ( Strafford Lead)
Ray started his career in the trucking industry in 2002 when he got his CDL Class A at FSCC truck driving school. He put that CDL to quick use when he started working at Smith & Chamber’s in Fort Scott, KS hauling oversized, clean up train wrecks in the Midwest region for a year to gain experience. Then moved on to drive a concrete truck locally for Pohl ready mix in Nevada, Mo until August 2025. Work slowed down and Ray went to work at Conway Freight (XPO Logistics) until 2010 to have home time with family. Accomplished adding a School Bus & Passenger endorsement to his CDL in 2010. Drove a bus for Nevada R5 school until 2022 while also driving trucks off and on within that time period (summer months) during the day Ray was a bus technician there for 2 years. Then left school to become a heavy equipment hauler to jobsites. Ray has been training with Xpress CDL since November 2024. Ray loves being able to share his knowledge and meeting new people.
Bill
Bill started in the trucking industry in 1993 after 5 years in the Air Force. He started out by going through a privately owned school of Schneider National Carriers and drove a cab over tractor for them about 19 months. Bill has driven Class A dry-vans, pneumatics, fuel tankers, water / acid smooth bore and baffled tankers, car hauler trailers, flat bed and hopper trailers. Bill has over 2 million accident free miles under his belt. He’s been a CDL trainer for San Juan College in Farminton, NM for 5 years full time and 5 years on a part-time basis. Also, an New Mexico State CDL Examiner for 7 of those 10 years. Bill has been the “Land Transportation Management Advisor” and Coach for North Africa while working for BP (British Petroleum) for 4 years. Then was the Safety Director for Havens Transport in Farmington NM from 2015-2020. Then an OTR driver for KL&T trucking from September 2020 to May 2025 before coming to Xpress CDL. Bill has driven nearly all makes of truck including: Freightliner, Mann, Scania, Iveco, International cabovers, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack, GMC General, Western Star, Conventional tractors in the USA and parts of Canada.
Lonnie (Carthage Lead)
Lonnie got his CDL in 1993 and started driving a Freightliner cabover pulling a dry box trailer. After his 1st year, Lonnie purchased his own truck. It was his first long nose Peterbilt. After driving a few years in the Pete, he purchased a trailer to be 100% independent. Pulled the newly purchased Reefer Trailer for 15 years until he started training in 2018. Lonnie started Xpress CDL in October 2024 and progressed to a Lead Trainer.
Lonnie has over 30 years in the trucking industry. He has a impressive resume including being a Fleet Manager (overseen maintenance of over 100 vehicles, ensuring high reliability) , Trainer, OTR driver. Lonnie focuses on DOT compliance and cutting costs while optimizing results.
Adam
Adam obtained his CDL in June 2018. He began training drivers OTR in January 2019 to 2022. He came in off the road in 2022 and drove locally until he starting his training career with a local trucking company that provided in-house training for their drivers. In July 2023 Adam officially became a Third Party Missouri examiner for about a year. This experience greatly helped Adam training drivers. Adam enjoys training because it allows him the opportunity to pass on his knowledge to others. A feeling of accomplishment is rewarding when training folks as they pass their CDL exam. Adam has experience with refrigerated (reefer) trailers, flatbed, dry-van and hopper bottom trailers during his driving career. To help his students pass, he finds unique ways to help them shake the nerves and try to have them not over think the test.
